Traditional dress and costumes were handmade in communities using local materials suitable for the environment and as an expression of the culture in design and decoration.
Ths documentary shows and describes traditional dress and costumes still worn today in some areas of the world: by descendents of the Inca and Maya in Peru and Guatemala, by the hilltribes of Northern Thailand, by Hindu and Muslim communities in Kutch, India, and by nomads in the Taurus mountains of Turkey. There is also film showing costumes worn in the Sultan's palace in Java and ceremonies in Ghana and Sumba.
